When Derek asks him where he learned to fish, he mumbles shyly that Gideon used to take him and they’d discuss their views on various philosophical topics. After Gideon left, JJ took it upon herself to continue the tradition every other week from spring to fall. She wasn’t as philosophical as Gideon, but she made up for it with kindness, patience, and reeling prowess.
